Welcome to Brown Veterinary Service!
Firstly, we want to say THANK YOU to everyone who came out to see us at the WV Hotdog Festival on July 30th - it was incredibly hot, but you braved the heat for some great pet activities, good food, and time with friends. It's always wonderful to talk to you all, and especially rewarding to hear your pet stories and know that you are still enthusiastic about supporting our practice! So many kudos and thanks to you :)
We're experiencing some of the hottest days of the Summer now and it's especially critical to take precautions if you have pets that are outdoors. Large or small, please be sure they have adequate shelter and lots of fresh water.
Of course, even as we forget how frustrated we were at the snow and ice this past Winter and wish it were cooler now, fleas and ticks are having a great time! Please continue to use all of your parasitic preventatives and don't hesitate to contact our office if/when you need more. I know alot of people only do flea or heartworm preventives in the Summer, but we have recently had positive results for Erlichiosis and other blood parasites and are still seeing numerous fleas, so be safe - use your preventives year round for optimum results! We have topical and oral preventives, so if your dog loves water or you bathe them frequently, ask about our great oral preventatives today!
As always, with the warmer days and increased household-traffic, there is a risk for "indoor only" pets to escape! We encourage everyone to have their pets Microchipped - our ResQ Microchip is universally accessible and the cost covers the microchip for the lifetime of the pet - there is never a fee to update your information, and the chip can be read by any manufactured scanner. For more information or to have your pet 'chipped today, please call! Some insurance companies even offer a discount for Microchipping your pet :)
Speaking of pet insurance, it is really catching on locally and we couldn't be more thrilled. This is a wonderful service, and there are many different plans to suit almost every budget - from regular wellness plans to complete emergency and catastrophe planning or dental supplementation. About Us
Brown Veterinary Service is a mixed-practice veterinary medical facility located in Wayne, WV with Dr. Chad Brown and Dr. Jennifer Summerfield leading the staff. Our professional and courteous staff strives to provide the best possible medical care, surgical care and dental care for their highly-valued patients.
We are a full-service mixed animal hospital providing professional medical care to virtually all kinds of animals. Our mixed animal clinic provides services for dogs, cats, horses, cattle, goats, pigs, llamas and alpacas.
One of the features that makes our practice unique is our house/farm call ambulatory department. We provide care for both large and small animals, and not only in an emergency situation. If you have a busy schedule or nervous pet - or both! - it can make all the difference in the world; saving you time and worry and potentially saving your pet's life with the routine care that they need.
Our veterinary truck has a 2006 model Bowie Galaxy II mobile chassis mounted unit. This truck can bring virtually all of our in-hospital services to the comfort and convenience of your home or farm.
